Vented BOV - Running rich?

Hey all, just recently vented my stock BOV (got tired of not being able to hear it at all hehe). My car seems to be running fine, however since I vented it I've noticed a couple things. First, my exhaust smells more rich at idle. Second, after quick acceleration, occasionally there will be a slight fuel smell coming from outside the car.

I know that the BOV vents unused pressure from the turbos. Is this also exhaust? So would the air escaping from the BOV smell like fuel or explain the richer smelling exhaust at idle? I just want to make sure that I don't have a fuel leak just waiting to spark up... heh. I also know that venting the stock BOV does slightly change the amount of air the airbox is providing, which the stock ECU may not compensate for, which could make it run more rich.

Second, I'm running a full exhaust with stock intake but also stock ECU. I don't spike under normal driving, only time I've noticed any spiking is at WOT at night when it's 60 degrees out or so. I have a manual boost controller limiting the boost to 8 psi, so my primary only boosts 8 but my secondary creeps to about 10. I know that even still I need to get a new ECU, which I plan on doing once I can afford it, but do you all think I'm safe as long as I'm keeping an eye on the boost? Also, if my engine is running slightly rich anyway as it is do I have to be really worried for the next month or two? I'm shooting flames and at WOT I get a small puff of black smoke, so I know I'm running pretty rich...

first word of advise i can give u is... start checking for a different reason than the vented stock blowoffs for your problems. all that does is make noise.

also, if ur running full exhaust and stock ecu you have more to worry about running lean than rich. your car probably just stinks at idle because thats what full exhausts smell like on rx7s. keep off the boost!

best of luck to you.
