I'm 20 years old, grew up racing in various forms, and I thought I'd done enough research on it, but after having it for a little while now, i realize that I didn't know ****! I still love my car, though, and will not get rid of it unless it's to get another fd. still stock, but not for long. I had my share of problems with it though, like the AST breaking on me, starter, alternator, had a stuck seal once, got that fixed though, it's all good now. can't wait to build this sexy little bitch.

I guess I can say I'm #4...I read it and laughed...I didn't own it when the rebuild was done; I don't look forward to doing one right now(school and limited funds)... I've owned two running FC's to start (see sig)...I always do my research before getting into anything...I've never have not owned a rotary since my first....I don't have a Will yet---I guess thats next on my list...LOL

i cant remember where i belong, but i imported my 96fd from japland, had turbo problems, now its going single, with all the toys, already up to 20g nz$, always changeing my mine on what to do. now selling the motor out of it, even knowing its mint with110 compression on both. geting a new motor from mazda. in this time i then bought a 93, still goes well, and now got a s1 rx7. dont plan on selling any of them, and want to keep on buying them.

+1 did the same thing... but i didnt purchase it was my dads car he drove for 14 years and only put 30k on it.. and he gave itt to me for my first car * my sister had 4 differant cars im not the spoiled one even though the FD is very amazing my sister started with a V12 jag*

i got the car when i was 20, but i had researched it since i was 16. I really havent driven it much in the 2 years i've owned it and i realized it is a really big waste of time for me. its not like i want to be a mechanic. I have seen people's lives consumed by their car, and now i'm going to sell this black hole to someone else. i really don't want attention from ricers asking and spewing ignorant **** to me anymore.

a group that are hated by the rest of the rotary owners
just because the car isnt 50:50 weight dist anymore and it ***** up the handling + the milage sucks on the v8 on top of that the rotary is much more reliable than the v8

oh i forgot to mention the v8 takes the soul out of the car .....

Was the 1st car I ever drove. Irrationally had to have when I was a senior in High School (18). That was back in 95.
Still have my 95 White with 50K and thank god no damage/accident free.

#4 - 1994 - 2000: Bought the car new and loved and pampered it.
#5 - 2001 - Present: Wife gave the okay to do some performance mods. $50,000+ later, car has been gone for 3 years for the 20B conversion. Can I someway blame this on the sife?

I have a couple more catagories:

The one I fall into: I've had the car 13 years, made a few power mods, put 160K on it as a daily driver, used the hell out of it and enjoyed it with relatively modest maintanence and few problems.

And my pet peeve: Those who take a perfectly good car and mindlessly decide they need to turn it into something better (?) by emulating the latest trend, their friends, and/or their favorite racer hero. Usually, this means they must go big single (or non-sequential). Now we have a car that is no longer enjoyable, fun or practical to drive--despite the rationalization (and assuming it runs at all). With the ensuing dissappointment and a lot of money spent, comes the inevitable sale or part out.


(Note that I am not referring to real purpose-built race cars for track use.)

Is there a category for those that buy a broken rx7, get most of the expensive parts purchased for a nice overhaul... then get shafted with a lay-off, a break-up (and later eviction) that costs way too much money.... and have owned the car for 1 year + and can only dream about what it is going to be like to drive it.

I am starting to get antsy... but I keep telling myself. Do not rush it. Do not cheap out. o not run with ANY risky parts.

If in doubt, replace it. If broke... sell myself on 4th and lewis. (Found the most profitable method this day and age is to charge by the lb.)

im about halfways to being #4 and due to circumstances am a #5. one day it struck me like a bolt of lightning that i wanted an FD to be the car for me. once that desire came around i set about researching its origins on the web and its mechanical specifications. eventually i found my way here and i have to say that the information on this forum has proved to be invaluable to me and im sure many others.

its got 400hp and 338 torque, its alot of power for this vehicle but i dont go about driving like a maniac or running it hot like a moron. i have my daily driver and my FD, i am very happy words cannot say. when i take my FD out i drive it casually with time allowed to warm up/warm down properly while rarely goin past 70mph on the highway. sure ppl screw with me tryin to provoke a race, but i dont go for it ever. heh why should i risk my dream car against a P.O.S honda civic or some jacked up ford 150? i already know the outcome so why bother making my FD a paperweight for a year or 2?

my car is surely drift/race ready, but i as an owner/driver am not ready for that. until i learn the inner workings of my vehicle to where i am comfortable (not to mention having a healthy savings) will i take that step. so far this forum has been pointing me in the right direction without fail for i purchased a healthy FD, know how to care for it due to the elaborate FAQ's, and eventually ill begin to work on it in greater detail. thanks RX-7 club!

I bought the car with absolutely no knowlege on FDs or rotaries in general. Drove it for 2 years. Then sold the working motor and all the other rotary-related parts so I could go widebody and put a V8 in it. Thats still in progress, but its me doing 100% of the work, so it takes a while. I work on it just about every day.

So where do I fit?
