Value of a 94

Well guys, I was wondering if a 1994 all original w/ new clutch and new tires would be worth $15,000. Also, it has 68,000 original miles on it.

I figured here in the 3rd gen forum would be the place to find out.

It could be worth that if it is in good condition.

If its in mint condition which is doubtful with over 50k miles. You can buy some very nice 10 or 11 year old cars for 15k. Good luck

Personally I would never buy a stock fd unless it had under 20k miles and I stole it. IMO they need 10k invested just to make up for all the factory deficits.

I agree 'cause who knows what the owner did with that car even though it looks mint. It's better to err on the notion that the owner "did" something to the car by own volition or did not know.

For example, I took a look at this red '93 touring at a Mazda dealership. I took it out for a test drive and it drove fine. I made sure I warmed it up and tried to check for the boost pattern but since this was my first turbo car I've ever driven and not knowing about the RX-7 too much, I didn't know that the car didn't have a boost gauge. Now how are you supposed to check the boost without a boost gauge.....I used the butt gauge!! I also mistakenly took the oil pressure gauge for the boost gauge. I was like, "how come that thing is really slow spooling up?" LOL.....

Anyways, checking out the car it "looked" pretty clean but there were the things that made me caution on the buy, 1) It was at a dealership and they were asking for a lot, 2) I could see that they recently repainted the car, 3) there was still some rust on the bottom lip of the rear hatch, 4) the engine was original with 60K miles on it and the dealership did not do a compression test on it, 5) looking inside the engine compartment I could see on the fan shrouds and also next to the radiator and white residue that I couldn't make out what it was. It was kind of like dried up calcium deposits so that worried me. I was thinking to myself is this what coolant looks like when it dries up....then that would mean the engine "might" have overheated.

I ended up not buying it because of the "possible" things I might have to replace and also the price they wanted.

Good luck on your search!

Not to hijack the thread, but a likely candidate would be battery acid. I've had it happen with two batteries. The damn things overheat and puke acid out the top, and the tray actually guides the acid runoff onto the subframe and drips it on the fans/radiator, leaving a white residue after eating everything in it's path. The first time it happened I found that ash/calcium-like substance everywhere, even the hood liner. I suppose it's a sulfate of some-sort. I cleaned up the battery area, put in a new battery and never noticed it again until the next battery went to hell.

BTW, who's the cutie in your avatar?

If you are refrencing my avatar, her name is Satou Mai.

Hopefully this afternoon I will make it out to take this car for a test drive. There are currently 4 of them for sale within ~300 miles of me. One stock, three modded.
