vacuum/boost discrepancies

I am getting very different readings for vacuum/boost
from my Autometer (vacuum line to UIM) boost gauge and my PMC purple box hand controller.

At idle, boost gauge shows -18 lbs. PMC shows -23 (!)

Max boost is 13+ on boost gauge, 10 on PMC.

So which do I trust? If I plug in another gauge and validate the boost gauge is accurate, what sensor do I check to diagnose the ECU/PMC?
