Get a reman, it comes with a warranty. Contact Ray at Malloy mazda (703) 490-8170, tell him you're from the rx7 club and you'll get the reman for $1950 + shipping. Ray is the MAN I can't praise enough about him.

you should only have JR's Rotary Performance rebuild and port your engine.

how can you compare were your other engines ported ? the only way to tell would be to compare to other ported engines...

Well A reman by Ray Crowe will get you hasseld with phone calls about your service you got( Man I never took my car there hmmm.)
Maybe I "got you all wrong", but I have received only excellent service from Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda Parts Dept. He really knows FD's, he has excellent prices, and I would highly recommend him for parts any day. I have called him for misc. engine parts numerous times, and he could recite the part number off the top of his head! It doesn't get much better than that.

Just my $.02

As Gordo noted above those are good shops but I speak from my personal Expeirence. As you to Gordon can say Dave has built you a FEW GOOD MOTORS.Gordon thanx for the support of PFS it is kind of you.

Dude you got a Mazda reman and had Peter streetport it (or so you said but maybe we are finding out thats not the case), whats the big deal. Any shop can do a various port jobs, its not magic or anything. You said you've had 3 before, where they ported, if not I can understand why this one feels stronger. When you put in the other 3 did you have as many mods as now? Were you running the same boost as now? What about turbos? Do you have different turbos now versus then?

I'm just trying to figure out what Peter did to your streetported reman to make you think its something special? I'm sure its a good motor but its just like every other good compression 13B with a street port.

Maybe you should make sure that dyno (by the way what kind of dyno is it) is using corrected numbers, it can make a big defference.

STEPHEN

Gordon, I think Rikki needs some of his PFS brand Moist towellettes to wipe the "special sauce" off his face. Judging from the quality of work ROB @ Pineapple did on my : egads second gen, I would recommend him.

Everyone is going to require a core. If you dont send a core your going to spend prob $5000 because they will have to buy all new housings, rotors, eshaft, ect ect ect.

Pineapple is building me an engine now, they sourced the reman for me without core exchange for $3195.

The rebuild is another $1900 - $2400 depending on 2Y/24k or 5Y/60K. If that was what you were thinking, $5000 is about right.

Kyle,

Just curious, but why didn't you go with Dave and Kim at KD Rotary from PA? They can get a Malloy Mazda reman, and build up the motor from that reman. You could then have Dave ship you the "KD-rotary built" reman from KD to Columbus OH...

The freight would have been cheaper probably.

Or you could have removed your motor and shipped to KD and have Dave rebuild your core?

Although I read from everyone that this is a waste of money. It's seems the consensus from the FD Forum is that it's better to start with a good reman from Malloy (Ray Crowe I guess is the fellow at Malloy Mazda Parts Dept), and have Dave (KD Rotary) or Rob (Pineapple guy) rebuild the reman??

I dunno, I've been re-searching the subject, as I'll be in need of a new motor probably in the spring of 2003.
