upgrad intercooler question?

I'm looking to buy a FMIC but the one I want is for a single turbo, now my question is can you use this intercooler on the twins? and secondly why is it that one of the apexi intercoolers is for the twins, can you not use it for a single or what?

I'd like to upgrade up until I can get more dough to install the single if anybody catches my drift.

Usually the only difference between them is the hot side piping. "twins" FMICs have piping that runs back to the stock cross-over tube. "single" FMICs have piping designed to connect to the turbo itself.

edit: that was poorly phrased, before.

A FMIC kit for either the twins or a single turbo will work with the other turbo setup, but would most likely require custom piping for the turbo side of the intercooler.

So I could buy the intercooler for the single but have to fabricate pipes to the crossover right, or atleast have some modification.
