updates on weirdness.

ok heres what i did today, i checked the alternator and its not that. i ridged up a multimeter to the cigarette lighter and it reads 1 volt under what ever is comming out of the battery. i then stepped on the brakes and the voltage droped to 7 volts and then recovered and stayed at 8-9 volts. does anyone have a clue to what is going on with my car? anyone ever experience this??? i have tried 4 new batteries, the latest one i tried, i did not even start the car, i put it in, stepped on the brakes and the voltage droped like crazy to 7 volts like it did with all the others! man i out of ideas here!!! i pulled all the fuses and relays to the car and it keep doing the same thing (except to the b1 and b2 fuses which are for the ingition switch so that i could see the drop thru the cigarette lighter) the funny thing is that when i start the car and have my brother stand on the brakes or turn on my lights, the voltage at the battery is still high at 12 volts but the voltage at the cigarette lighter drops to 7-9 volts. Im not sure what this means, im pretty sure everything is hooked up in parallel so it should not be doing this but something is obviously screwed up here. dang i guess i should stick with desiel cars!!!

please respond with anykinda ideas, im out of them.

Check your ground wire. Take one side of a jumper cable from the negative terminal and connect it to the frame or engine somewhere close to the starter (if possible). See if there is any change in the system. Also, trace your ground wire connections to make sure none of them have failed. Grounding seems to be a weak point in the RX7's especially body to engine ground wires.
