Update to FD Registration #'s
As many of you might remember, it was April of 2006 that we started taking donations, and successfully raised $750 to purchase the 10/01/05 FD registration data. Last year, there was interest in going through this process on a yearly basis to establish a trend line. So, I'm starting this new thread for 2007 to see if we'd get the same type of support for more current data.
Here is the original quote sheet from Polk: https://www.rx7club.com/attachment.p...hmentid=171449 As you can see from the quote sheet, you can drill down to your county or zip code, but all for a higher price. I have not contacted Polk about a new request, but I assume the pricing is similar to last year. I will get a new official quote though if I see there is as much interest as we had a year ago. If all of this is new to you, please refer to these links to see how it went last year: https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/interest-knowing-how-many-fds-registered-531604/ (original thread) https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/%24750-reached-thanks-all-who-have-donated-534132/ (everyone who donated) https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-gen-general-discussion-322/registered-fd-s-state-536441/ (current sticky) If i remember correctly, purchasing the data in April-May would give us data from 10/01/06, and purchasing it in June would give us data from 1/01/07. |
So I'm assuming no one would like an update of the numbers

maybe next year...once a year might be a bit much???

At the rate they are being destroyed, it might be interesting to see how fast they are going, and whether or not I should hang onto mine or let it go.
I'd be willing to contribute a few dollars. |
I say lock the information to only those who pitch in a couple bucks, and use the left over money to help maintain the board. I know everyone at home is just sitting there hoping that a couple guys will pitch in 5 or 10 bucks so they can see it for free.
Then again, even if that did happen that way, there is always that one asshole who will post up the information and ruin the little fund raiser. Regardless, I'd like to see it on a yearly basis just to watch the numbers fall. I swear 10 times a week (well, not that much ) I see a new thread in the for sale section titled "Parting out my car" or in the general section "Some lady totalled my car", etc. I'm going to bury my fd in a bomb shelter and bring it back out in 30 years and probably be the only one left :rlaugh: I'm down for contributing a couple bucks, even if the free loaders just sit idle and wait for everyone else to pay for it. |
I think every 2 years would be a little more appropriate, but that is just me.

It depends on the price. I pitched in last year, but I don't remember what I paid. I'd be willing to put $10 into the pot for June, but I've got no problems waiting until next year as well. You should be able to get larger donations from people who are involved in RX-7 specific businesses (Ramy, Gotham Racing, Atkins, Racing Beat...): their jobs are somewhat tied to the number of remaining RX-7's.
Here's how I feel about distributing the numbers to people who didn't donate: they're already getting plenty of useful info from this website from free, and they're not entitled to see info that others had to pay for. Maybe there could be limited public info (total number of FD's registered, not broken down by state), with the full report available only to those who are willing to pitch in a little extra. After the report is already paid for, you can start putting the profits toward the next year's report. Better yet, increase the price a little (charge a dollar extra) after the report has been received, in order to encourage people to buy in early. -s- |
Well there were about 35 members that donated to come up with $750 last year, so maybe if we did it this year it would be good for the donations to come from different members.
|
I'd probably throw 5-10 bucks in to get the info, purely out of curiosity. I think it's a little rude to not have it available to everyone though, this is a public forum and something like this should be public domain.

Since we've got several that are willing to donate, we'll start it off just by doing pledges. No money will be collected until the pledges reach the goal amount. If you'd like to donate, add your name, copy and paste, and we'll see how this goes. 1. USCmatt $10 |
I think I donated $30 last year. Would definitely be willing to do it again next year, but I think 12 months is too soon.

I think we should wait until the end of this year at least. That should put us at a 2 year mark...Every year is to much.

Just let people vote with their wallets!
If there is enough support I don’t see why not? I would match my last donation |

I contributed $20 bucks last time. How much did you put up? did we keep the info from you? |

No matter how you do it, it will be a somewhat misleading count. |
