unstable boost, jumpy, choppy, AVCR

Hello. I'm at a point where I don't think I could get much more out of my stock turbos. I'm normaly boosting around 10psi. I have the car tuned to push upto 17 psi safely. When I set the boost at ~14, it holds it there pretty stable. When I push it to 17, it gets choppy. It's not my intention to get more out of my stock turbos, I just want my boost to be stable. I have all the fuel and cooling upgrades, pretty much everything but a single.

Here's my dyno chart at 17psi. See the choppy curve at full boost? It's bouncing around between 14 - 17. It doesn't steady out. I have a AVCR and I've messes with the sampling and the duty cycle, but I can't seem to tune it. If anyone knows what my problem could be, I'd appreciate the help. Thanks.

Sung,

At what rpm does it get bouncey? In 4th gear, after 5000? 6000? etc. Does the AVC-R use the 3 bar map sensor or are you using the stock 2 bar map sensor that tops put at roughly 17 psi?

I'm using stock map sensor. I posted a while back asking if stock map sensor was good for 17psi. I think everyone told me it should be okay.

It does it around 5500 and up. Basicaly it does it when trying to reach full boost. I thnink when running 17 psi, I'm hitting, or trying to hit full boost ~4500. It starts to creep up to 17 but it just bounces around. Not very fast but up and down like it's trying to settle down.

Oh yeah, we must meet one of these days. Dave's told me so much about you. Anytime he talkes about 3rd gen, it's Tim this and Tim that. He's like thowing names like I know you already. Hope to meet everyone at our next gathering.

Same here. I was hoping you'd show up at the drag event back in april with the FD or civic. We'll meet up eventually and I'll try to figure out the boost thing.

The AVC-R has it's own map sensor.
