Unpluggin Airpump, Removol, flamage??
I"ve searched and a bit confused. i have a midpipe, but some say you can't just unplug the airpump with the connector since letting it freewheel will cause the bearings to get messed up. So do i just leave the hose hanging? is that the best way for now? And when i actually remove the pump, do i need any block off plates? or can i just plug the hoses up etc.
Also, just curious, if you were to route the airpump to a midpipe, does that affect flamage?

elmo, the free spinning thing isnt a factor. the electrical connection on the back of the air pump magnatizes the plate behind the clutch, and cuases the clutch to engage only at or under 3000 rpm. that said, the thing is "free spinning" most of the time your driving,
i.e. will not mess anything up.
when you take it out, you just need to plug the hoses, its very easy to do.
and the flamage, if you find a company that makes a true straight mid pipe with the flange on it to connect the air pump pipe...it shouldnt effect flamage because the pump doesnt turn on when you shift or quickly lift off the throttle. you have to be at or below 3ooo rpm for quite a few seconds for the computer to turn it on,
i.e. idleing or very low speed cruising.
i had taken my airpump out for about a year, so im not talking out of a guess here. hope it helps.

thanks for the info. The reason i asked about flamage is because isn't the airpump attached to an anti-afterburn valve. It's supposed to add air on off throttle to dilute the unburt gases. Not sure. In any case. I'll just go ahead and unplug my a/p until i finally take it out. I still need to find a belt to complete the removal.
