Just got off the phone with Ari over at www.rx7.com and he told me some interesting stuff. I suppose it's more of interest for tuners than FD-only guys, but just FYI:

There are now 2 versions of the FC Datalogit, Version 'A,' which is for use with the FD, sr20, Subaru, Mitsu, and others, and Version 'B' which is for the supra and skyline only. So now you can blow up your FD's motor with hack tuning, then go make yourself feel better by destroying your buddy's Evo 8

I always see that the datalogits sell very quickly when they pop up used so assumed some kind of backorder but he told me still has some in stock, and priced not much higher than they go for used in the for sale section......

 

Good, my buddy has a evo8 and it's getting to be allmost as fast as my FD. Gotta "slow him down" a little.

In what way? I have no hands on experience with the newer version.....hell, or the older version for that matter

 

I know for some time now Apexi has made a universal commander. The newer PFC's (serial FD3SIV) use the universal commander, the old ones (FD3SII, I think) use the FD-specific commander. Anyhow, I think the Datalogit works with all PFC's that use the universal commander.

The datalogit box has always worked (unofficially) on multiple cars, just needs the appropriate software. Have used my FD one on Skylines and the odd 200SX.

 

I bought one of the version As from Rotary Performance a few months ago. Never used the previous ones, so couldn't tell you if it was "better" in any way. I will say it kicks the commander's *** though, which some thief did me a favor stealing. The insurance money to replace the commander bought the FC-Datalogit.
