Universal turbine housings?

How different are turbo housings between each brand? Can you put a garret turbine on a precision compressor? I have an apexi RX6, which has a t3 inlet. If I wanted a t4 inlet are there any options? I'm happy with my turbo right now, I'm just curious.

Thanks

I have the same turbo/kit. If you measure it out you see it's not even a T3 size. Closer to a T25 flange. Turbine housings are model/manufacturer specific so there is not going to be an off the shelf solution.

A turbo rebuilder may be able to machine another turbo exhaust housing to fit the RX-6 turbo.

Like what BNR does putting Garrret turbos in stock Mazda exhaust housings.

Have the turbo exhaust housing off with a pair of calipers in hand and start calling (they will need some dimensions to go off).

Depends on the brand.

In your example, Precision turbos use knock off of Garrett exhaust wheels built from inferior materials for Turbonetics (or did, maybe they have them knocked off just for Precision turbos now).

Anyhow, you can upgrade by directly swapping in any Garrett pieces throughout a Turbonetics or Precision turbo (excluding their non Garret sized compressor wheels/housings).

Interesting. Now if only I had a large variety of turbos to examine, lol.
