uhh .. no more yellow tops for a few months?!!

So.. my battery is dead and I'm about to order a tray from turbo jeff along with a 51r. I call around and batteriesplus tells me that the military bought out all the optimas so it's backordered for 4 months...... grr! By the way, their price was $119 for the yellow top!!!

Anyone know a place in the west coast where I can get a 51r? I've tried pep boys, autozone, napa, etc.... Anyone have an extra 51r?

You should be able to get a non-Optima 51R at most auto parts stores. I bought one at Pep Boys a while back, I think.

I read somewhere that one of the big battery companies was going out of buisness. That could be why they are unavailable. Then again this could just be what the battery guy said and the military really did buy a whole bunch of batteries. Like max said you can pick a 51R up at pep boys.

I was tryin to get this battery in November and Advance Auto Parts said that it was on back order til February... And sometime last month, I don't remember what online store I called, but they told me that the D51R was on infinate recall?????? That was the first I heard of that. Anyone else hear that?

You can get a 51R battery in any auto parts store in the country...not to mention Costco, Sams, Walmart, etc. I got a 7-year 51R battery from Costco for like $50-60. It's lasted for over 2 years, including being tracked during 103F heat. For the price difference, the Optima is a hard sell, to me anyway.

I got a 51OY from NAPA here in SD not too long ago. The terminals are reversed from the 51R and so I needed to put a leader on the fuse block so it would reach... I was in a bit of a hurry since the optima 51R that was in the car gave up the ghost on me.

My optima 51 doesn't seem to be holding a charge anymore, hopefully I don't have a problem getting a new one.....

Hm... I'm split btw getting the TurboJeff tray + 51R or just get a stocker replacement. Good thing I have the DD while I think about this.
