typhoon owned me & my rotor. pls read.
hey guys, the recent typhoon here has absolutely owned my area. The bottom floor of my house is guttered, i found a fish in the hallway ffs!!!!
heres a pic of my area,
anwyay it was too late to move the rotor when i dsicovered it was flooding so i put it on bricks which may have saved it,, the water went just below the long box of relays in the front of the car near the left headlight which is still pretty far up.
I know ill get badgered about the search but i really dont have the time to sift through hundreds of post looking for an answer so if you dont want to help me i understand, just dont give me grief about the search.
ENGINE
first, today i got the car starting but it would not idle, tonnes of white smoke came out but i think that was just the water that made it up the exhaust. Its a good start though, i had to keep my foot on accelerator to keep it idling, i had it on 2000rpm for about 20 secs and then for some stupid reasn i let go and the car died and now wont start again.. it may be the battery, ill get back to you guys in a few days about this one.
1)what should i do in terms of the engine?
ELECTRICS
obviously the ecu got water in it, im thinking of grabbing a used one on yahoo auction, mine is a 1995 model,
2)are the ecus from 92-95 the same???
What other electrics should i be looking at?? also,
3)there is a little black box near the box of fuses in the car with the word unit timer printed on it,, what is this? it makes a clicking noise sometimes.
INTERIOR
4)Does anyone know if there are any drain holes under the carpet?? ive found some under the rear seats. Does the dash have to come out for the carpet to come out?

There are removable rubber stoppers under the carpet on both sides. PM turbojeff as he has totally stripped many FDs. Look at his pics in the third gen forum, you may be able to see the holes. I would think you would want to remove the carpet anyway, for cleaning.

I don't see why your motor would be toast. The water probably wasn't in the engine long enough to rust anything. It's probably an electronic problem of some sort.

personally, I'd be taking mine to a specialist (that's my advice).
you may have flooded it also (sorry for the pun!) - try the un-flooding process (do a search)
I didn't have any issues with the typhoons, but I'm hoping nothing fell on it during the earthquakes! (it's in a workshop) haha. anyway, good luck.

maizuru is a little dry, another pun =), in terms of specialist.. The only specialist i know of here are mazda themselves or autobacs!!!!
I dont trust any workshops here.. If i do get it starting which i think i will then ill drop the car off for a huge service though.

ok.. time for an update...
engine seems ok.. but the battery is dead so gotta get a new one tomorrow..
ive pulled off all the intake pipes and they are ok..
still have to tackle the interior though, but working on the car is a huge hassle since the carpark is covered in 10cms of silt.
