twin turbo problems

Hi folks, sadly I think I have a problem with one of my turbos.

I was overtaking, was in 3rd and was jst coming into th 2nd stage turbo when the car choked a bit. Now when ever th first turbo kicks in its makin a funny whaling sound and doesn't seem to be the power there once was. Have any of you got an idea what the problem may be? I hoping its not as serious as blown th turbo

Have you checked all your vacuum hoses?
You might have blown one off

I already have a ''whaling sound '' on mine to and it's was the charge control and related solenoid that was in case.
The charge control actuator was always in open position so the boost of the primary turbo escape into the secondary turbo and charge relief valve.

Good luck

Eric

when the first turbo creates pressure the charge control valve closes and seals the turbos from eachother. when the second turbo spools up it equalizes both sides of the actuator and reopens the valve, if the valve leaks the pressure from the first turbo will go into the second turbo and they will fight eachother. I have a leaking valve in my garage so i made a quick video for you. The charge control valve is part of the Y pipe that comes off the top of the turbos.

You may have a very large boost leak. make sure you didn't blow a pressure side hose, bust the y-pipe, or blow out the intercooler, etc.

thanks for the video was very helpful.

I just took the car out again to see what was happening. i kept an eye on the boost gauge, looks like i am getting the correct boost, around 0.8? i went right throught the gear and right through the revs, the whailing noise seems to appear as it interchange between the 2 turbos occur, around 4000rpm range. the car also choked once again around 4800/5000 in 5th gear
