Has anyone done a twin Rx6 setup on the FD? I see that this combo is really popular on other cars and was wondering if it could work on the FD. I know a lot of people run the Rx6 single, but it would probably have some benefits being run as a twin (if it could fit under the hood)...other than the cost I don't see it inhibiting anyone from trying. So....?

 

well very few people have the ability to weld and fab up a exhaust mani for that application. also, as you might have notice, a lot of guys on this board are not the richest guys in the world... our cars are cheaper then new civics and those are the ones in good condition! when you got guys bitching about new engines, i doubt anyone would even bother with a custome application like that. hell the most outragous twins out there are like twin T28's or something like that (some of the smallest and cheapest turbos you can buy, hell you can pick one up for about 150 bucks and people still bitch about it!)

Personnaly, I'd get a T51kai spl bb or a T04Z bb

 

I could fit. It would also cost a lot more than most people on this forum would be willing to spend. The manifold alone would cost a ton unless you could make it yourself. rx6s are also expensive. Would be fast though

That's too bad - I wish you could make a computer model to estimate how it would run. I've seen some amazing HP numbers on some other cars with this setup (not saying it'd be the same on the FD), but it'd be nice to compare.

 

Those cars most likely had 2 cylinder heads as well.

2 small turbos is not necessarily better, quicker spooling, or able to outflow a single larger turbo. There are complexity issues as well.

Simplicity works great in these systems.

 

I'll let you guys know how my custom twin turbo setup is running when its done. I'm putting in two T3/TO4E's from XS-Engineering. My friend's shop is making me a custom 321 stainless steel manifold with 2X 3" custom down pipes. I should be done in about a month, it will also have a custom twin core intercooler.

Twin RX6's would be sweet, I agree. But then you're losing some of the benefits of the single set up. You lose the simplicity and the heat benefits if you go back to twins. And I don't think you'd be getting much more power than you would out of a decent size single. Not worth it IMO.

 

Hrmm I've had twin ball bearing T04E's for about 3 or 4 years. Nothing new there.
