turbo spooling problem?

4 days ago i drove from boston to pittsburgh in my FD. the last 30 mins of the 8 hour drive, something happened to my turbos. my car always gave me a perfect 10-8-10 boost pattern. but now, all of a sudden i noticed i was getting a 5-4-5 pattern.

now here is something i noticed also. everytime i stepped on the throttle to get my turbos going i noticed a "gushing" noise from the center of my engine, as if lots and lots of air was leaking out. this is not the same noise that the ABV makes. this was an independent and a new noise. i suspect air is leaking from somewhere in the engine, and doesnt allow the turbos to spool properly.

can someone shed some more light into this? do you know what is causing this? and how i could fix it? i stopped working 6 months ago (i am a graduate student now). can i fix this problem myself (i am trying to get this fixed without losing too much money) in the past i have done many things to my car myself (to give you an idea of whether you think this job is harder than the ones i will list below):

1. complete vacuum hose job
2. water thermo sensor replacement
3. downpipe installation
4. air intake system installation

Check your crossover pipe. This is what im mine and what im talkin about. Rev your engine and run your hand around the crossover pipe and feel for air. If you feel air leaking, take it off and put water in it like i did to see where the leak is at.

You probably just have boost leak due to hose failure. Check out this site:

Yes, this is very easy to fix, too. Just find the torn coupler and install a new one.
