When my secondary was dead, it sounded like dremel, grinding stone. It was a really loud metal on metal sound. I think you'd know it if you heard it. Maybe mine was really bad though, and yours is just a little bad...?

It's always a possibility..........but in my case not a Probability. I really believe the high pitch whine is just the Turbo spooling. Everyone told me I would really hear it when I installed the DP, but I didn't notice the whine until last night when I installed the GReddy elbow and IC hard pipes. I think the sound will be more pronounced as soon as I install an Intake hard pipe kit.

From your description of the sound, I really don't think it's a bad turbo. Mine was really loud, and you just knew it right away when hearing it. I'd never driven a turbo'd car before, and I'd never heard a bad turbo before, but hearing this sound was like "Oh god, I need a new turbo."

Well I'm not exactly an FD Einstein, but the turbo whine climbs effortless as the rpm's go up and it really sounds healthy. As of last night I haven't gone passed 4500, so I haven't heard the second turbo whine yet. There's always tomorrow!!!

doods...its obvious his turbos arent shot

all im saying is that that sound is NOT normal...even with hard pipes and even with a downpipe. the turbos spooling with those mods will be audible but not to the point that it sounds like you are at the dentists office...it will still be subtle. Ive been thru three sets of turbos on this mod list...finally ended up with my m2s...ive been there and done that.

if you get that sound...a probable cause based on my personal experience is chipped wheels on the exhaust side (the intake side can look like new) ...as well as balancing issues. it sounds badass...hahahah...but it is far from normal. I noticed no loss in power with the situation...just the noise....

ahh hell...im just repeating myself
