turbo issuse and ,,, upgrade or replace?

k well im having an issue with my first stage turbo(low rpm) on my 93 fd twin, its on its way out, and leaking oil so i am either going to have to rebuild it or replace it. butt
i am wondering if i should upgrade instead of refurbishing,
should i convert to a single turbo
or
is there another setup with aftermarket twins
or
just keep the stockers

i am on kind of a tight budget so the upgrades cannot be crazy expensive
any help is appreciated

you could use the stock twins and upgrade them to the stage3 bnr's. i think godfella did this, so hopefully he can give you some input on that.

how much do you plan on spending? the bnr's are 2.5k...not to cheap. i'm guessing you could get the used stock turbos from someone on the forum or get yours rebuilt if your looking for a cheaper fix

Problems with boost are almost NEVER solved by changing to a new set of stock turbos. The problems are nearly always somewhere in the hoses/piping that control the turbo system.

Unless your turbos are blowing loads of oil into the engine or leaking thru cracks at the exhaust manifold they are fine.

If you want to upgrade your turbos, that's fine. Just know that it won't solve turbo control problems like boost issues.

So, if it's not the Turbos -- what are the issues with low boost?
