Tuning suggestions for Large street port, dp, exhaust, intake...

I'm just about to install a PowerFC on my brand new (and broken in) Pineapple large street port motor. I have Apex GT spec 3.74" exhaust, RE
Amemiya HUGE intake, dp, and I want to run about 11psi if possible.

I don't want to install a wideband or fuel upgrades until I get my new V-mount IC. Should I just use someone elses maps with simuliar mods or can I set the thing on learning mode or whatever?? I have no knowledge about how the unit works, and I don't plan to learn until I get my
wideband and dataloggit. I'm just looking for a temporary fix until then...I'm also not looking for maximum power, just what will get me by reliably with the power I should have with these upgrades (I'm guessing the car should have about 290-300rwhp). What do you guys think I should do?

Also, when I talked to Rob at Pineapple about tuning, I asked him to give me the mildest idle possible with a Large Street Port...so I guess my setup is a bit differnet from a normal L.S.P.

you have a large streetport, and stock turbines? you also want a Vmount i/c? dude..you need a bigger turbine. Joule before they closed down said that streetport with stock turbines is bad...im assuming it will outflow the turbos and be useless, but I dont know. I dunno if anyone runs stockj twins with a large or even mild streetport. I thought people have maybe sideported motors with the stockers..am i wrong?

Yes.

Many people run the stock twins with mild -> large street ports.

Have you talked to Rob at Pineapple yet to get how much of a timing change he ported? He should be able to tell you pretty closely.

i dont understand why builders dont give you the timing change on the porting. . . i mean. . . you buy cams and its says: .xxx lift/.xxx duration. why are we any different since porting is basically changing out cams? that might make timing a little easier for the shadetree mechanic to tune.

Do PowerFC maps have this timing information in them so I can find some that are the same as I need and use those??? Otherwise, it would do me good as of yet because I'm not paying to have my car tuned, and I'm not buying a wideband/dataloggit yet. I need a cheap temporary fix.

there is no shortcut with tuning...trading maps is a good way to blow her up....who knows what those maps look like....and who knows what the base maps look like vs the maps you put in...you two may have totally diff base maps.

just get the pfc and datalogit...that is the only way to do it right...you will run lean and rich in areas if you do not...if you do put in guess maps...and they are guesses...then dont boost AT ALL...

i had kdr send me maps long ago...and had xs put in maps....and guess what...the **** dont work. so be careful my friend...you have a nice car there...patience is key...and patience is what will make sure you have that car running strong for a long time.

tuning with the datalogit and mapwatcher stuff is very very easy...it just takes patience and baby steps...take readings to see where your afrs are...make tiny adjustments....take more readings...make tiny adjustments....more readings under more boost...more adjustments...ease thru the boost...one step at a time.

do it right..k?

good luck

That's the fastest responce I've ever seen!!!

Anyways, I'm not trying to get max power here or even anything more than 10psi...All I want is to fuel compensation for the mods I'm running!

Btw, how can you tune with a dataloggit if you don't have a wideband o2 sensor? Also, what is mapwatcher?
