tt vs. TT

me and my friend were having an arguement the other day about a race. The debate : 300ZXTT vs. RX7TT who would win in a 1/4 mile race? Who would win top end?

From what I can remember from the shootout.
The Supra TT stoped 1 foot quicker (bigger brakes I suppose, since it's heavier) and was ahead by a nose hair in the 1/4mi. But as the car was desined for, the RX-7 was top in the slolem. I don't remember if the 300ZX TT was 3rd, 4th or 5th. All cars were stock.

rx7tt definitely for the 1/4, but for top-end..not too sure. the Z was made for higher speeds, but it sucks bigtime off the line due to wheelhop which causes unbelievable traction problems. i think stock times for a z32tt in the 1/4 range anywhere from 13.5-14.0. i know little about rx7 times, but i'm sure someone can verify the 7 is much faster in stock form than that. hope this helps. peace

8 out of ten times the RX7 TT will pull a 300Z TT in any acceleration test. I believe the 300Z TT is governed at 154 mph but it is still pulling when in hits. Top speed for the RX7 is 159-161. I've only seen one 300Z pull 13s in the magazines at 13.7 at 104 mph. But most will do 14.1-14.4 at 101 mph. Most people will agree that the average time for a RX7 is 13.9 at 100 mph. Both cars are similar and could come to the driver.

I have YET to lose to a 300ZXTT. Those things are dogs off the line. I'm more scared of the Supra's then the 300ZX...

Z's have terrible acceleration because of the anit-squat geometry of the rear end.

Do Supras really have bigger brakes than an RX-7? I thought the 7 had huge disks all around?

yea these 3 cars were really all meant to compete with each other. some might say 300z has batter qualties but for the most part its supra and 7 battling it out and dzungh summed it up perfectly

Well according to a Car and Driver shootout I read they both pulled the same ET but the 300zx was 1 mph faster. 13.7@102 and 13.7@101.

RX-7 for life. 300zx is ugly.

You tell us. Go find a stock FD and Z and a long deserted road. We'll be waiting for the results

I know I haven't come across one yet at highway speeds that could give me a good run. This is over the last 4 years at varying degrees of modification.

300ZX

My unlce mike has a red 300ZX with the Stilen Stage 8 package (rated at 454hp). He is swithching to the greddy twins also. He is coming to Pensacola, Flordia in October. He wants to race me. He is a auto "only" 7k just in the tranny itself.

I am going to get a new engine with street port and then go with all the bolt-ons for the twins (non-seq for top end). Im hoping to hit around 340-360rwhp. Ill tape it and upload for you guys to see. If he does goes with the Greddy Twins, I will go for gt35/40 or T78. This way I ensure my victory! He doesnt have a governer either. Last time i rode with him we toyed with a C5 and went to 168mph !

But, try finding a completely stock Supra ... or a completely stock RX-7. In stock form, I played with a stock Supra and we were pretty much dead even. 300Z's are a leg behind. With mods the 300Z can be competitive, but I'd still give the rex the nod. Now, modded Supra's ... that's a whole different ballpark.

FOr instance, the other night, this black Supra with TRD everything on it pulls next to me on the highway. I jump on him and he pulls ahead by a car by 90. THEN, he hits it, the rear squats (at 90mph?!?!?!) and he shoots out this huge flame. He was GONE ... bastid was just playing with me.

Average Supra TT price... 25-30k
Average RX-7 Price... 15-20k

value goes to the 7, but i think potential definatley goes to the supra.
