Cripes!

Trying to fit a MOMO boss and steering wheel in place of the standard Japanese spec one.

Got the wheel off easy, but the MOMO boss has a flat metal underside, whereas the standard base has a plastic turret sticking up housing a connecter for the horn earth.

Do I cut the turret off? Or does the turret base come out?

the whole base comes off....there is a different boss that is made for the SRS equipped cars. It utilizes the base as the connection for horn/airbag/cruise.

I don't want to mess things up by trying to pull it out with a pair of pliers!

I don't remember exactly how it came off, I think there were a few screws that hold it down and I kinda just jerked it off

PS we are talking about the same thing right? it is like a coil thingy which the horn and airbag connects to right?

It is the horn thingy, but it's the non-airbag wheel. But everything you say makes sense!
