Trying to better understand my 7
Well I am new to the rotary/turbo world and I have a few questions. I'll start off with a description of my car and what I have on her.
Car: 1994 Touring Rx-7 (was stock).
Mods: Greddy Intake, A'pexi Power FC, A'pexi AVC-R
Questions/Concerns.
1) Recently I had a problem my coolant temp gauge. Once in a while, when I start up the buzzer and warning light comes on, but when I check it, the coolant isn't low. When I restart the car, problem disappears. Although during the past 3 weeks, I did have to refill my coolant twice. I was wondering if it is normal to add coolant that often. (I did that simple test to see if my exhaust smelled sweet on start-up and it doesn't, I check the hoses for leaks and didn't find any).
2) Should the PFC and AVC-R Boost pressure be different? The PFC shows 30-40 off than the AVC-R.
Example: 440 mmHg (PFC) / 400 mmHg (AVC-R).
3) Should I get any boost in 1st gear between 2500 RPM and up? Along with that, should my boost ever reach 1.13 kg/cm2 (around 16psi)? I know that stock boost pattern is 10-8-10. I hit 1.13 in 3rd gear getting on the on ramp to the highway (on my AVC-R).
Sorry for all the noob questions but I just want to better understand my car.
Thanks,
David

Well the mileage is around 108713, but I bought the car with 106--- Miles on it. I've done my maintenance work on it such as spark plugs, oil, and fuel filter.

1) do a search for coolant burping...You probably have air in the system.
The next two can be found in the PFC forum area
2) Search in the PFC forum for map calibration...You need to change the offset. (you need a Datlogit unit)
3) You should get boost in all gears. Also, you need to adjust a setting in the PFC (you need a Datlogit unit)--I can't remember at the moment what the setting is called. 16 is too high. You should try to keep it around 12.

Thanks Nash. I currently do not have a Datalogit yet, but plan on getting one soon. I was trying to wait off till I get the rest of the exhaust, intercooler), and my gauges here before I buy one.
I'll check the coolant situation when I get home since I am at work at the moment.
Catch-22. The car itself has 108k, I don't really know if the motor has been rebuilt or not yet. So far you are leading me on the idea that my seals might go out soon and a rebuild is in order.

I would have the coolant system pressure tested and hopefully you will just find a small leak somewhere and it wont be the coolant seals. If you are on stock injectors and hitting 16psi on the base map of the PFC you will likely be needing my assistance or another engine builders in the near future. Figure out your boost creep issue asap then go from there to find your coolant problems.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Thanks Mahjik and Seven. I think i will check my coolant pressure this weekend. Everything on the car should be stock except for what I have done to her.
Thanks for the help everyone. I'll try to get things sorted out this weekend and post an update.
