Trans wont go into gear question.

Just bought a really low mileage manual trans and i have my old trans (really worn out) sitting next to my new trans. The new one wont go into gear and the old one will. Is this normal?

haha thank but no thanks just fixed it. the 5th/rev slector was pushed too far forward so essentially the trans was in N but was really in rev. anyways took the top inspection plate off and pushed the rod back manually and bingo, shifts perfect now. heres the post that help jic someone else has the same problem.
