tranny problems for a change
ok, i went to put my car in reverse today, and it didnt give that satisfying click, when it goes into gear, and it felt loose. so i put it into first, and it went, but then i tried second, and nothing, and then it would not go into any gear, just very loose. tranny had not been giving me any problems.
i took the center console off, and the inspection plate where the gear shifter stick is off, and i found what i thought was the problem.
the shifter stick, had a round end to it, and there is a white piece of plastic (cylinder in shape) that goes around the metal round end of the shifter stick, it had came off and was laying in the dope.
i put it back on, and placed it back into the shaft inside the tranny.
i could not shift gears, i could only move the shifter up and down, and the car was stuck in 4th or 5th gear judging by the way it pulled when i let off the clutch.
when you take the inspection plate off, from inside the cab, right under the center console, where the shifter goes in, there is a round slot that recieves the shifter, the round slot is attached to a shaft, and that shaft will only move back and forth, thats all i know so far,
so any insight on how to fix this would be great, hope this made sense, thanks
