Ok, I had problem going into gear after the track a couple months back, and just now have time to remove the tranny. After removal, clutch and bearin seems to be ok, however, the tranny doesnt seem to be able to go into 3,4,5 & reverse . I had removed the tranny and completely seperated from the car, now my questions is, do you think my tranny is toasted? I should be able to get it into gear when it is seperated from the car correct? thanks in advance

 

Yes, you should be able to shift through all of the gears with the tranny out of the car, just as you should be able to shift through all of the gears while in the car and the clutch depressed or engine not running. Apparently, something has come loose inside that is jamming the ability of the transmission to move between gears properly. You may want to pull off the bottom plate and take a look in the gear box to see what may be the possible source of the problem. But the odds are you are probably looking at a rebuild.

 

^^Another possibility is to look to see if the shifter bushing is worn out or broken in some fashion.
