Tranny Oil - Quarts Questions

I was doing a search and its hard for me to figure out how much tranny oil i should have put in exactly. I bought 3 quarts of Neo 75w90HD since i hear it is around 2.5-2.8 quarts from what ive read. I did read some where its 2.8 quarts. But after reading more post today ive seen 2.5 in the tranny. So last night i put about 2.X quarts in since i still had about 1/8 of the bottle left over plus alot spilt on the floor. So i should have put in around 2.7 or 2.8 quarts. Is this too much, am i going to have problems? or do you guys think ill be fine?

Also, should i have teflon wrapped the fill and drain bolt when i plugged them back up? i read its not absolutely necessary too on someone post. Shoot that would be crappy if i HAD to since the fluids are already in the car.

Just fill until the oil comes out the top - at that point you know it's full, don't worry about the exact quantity it takes. The only other thing is I typically put the car up on 4 jackstands so it's in the air and level - having it tilted could result in an inaccurate reading on oil level.

Not sure what the shop manual says on the drain plugs - I've usually just put 'em back in nice and snug and haven't had leak problems. Just keep your eye on it.

Some people say yes on the teflon but if its snugged on and doesn't leak, then there is no point.

2.5-2.8 sounds about right. If I remember correctly.

Just fill it up tell is starts to dribble out the fill tube.

That extra probably belongs in the shifter housing by the shifter ball.

If in doubt, use the teflon tape. Mine has a very slow leak and I'm annoyed that I'll have to drain and refill the whole thing just to reseal the drain plug.

If you don't have an automatic pump to push the fluid into the tranny; purchase a 4ft or so section of clear tubing, run it from the tranny fill hole up into the engine bay along the clutch line; fill the tranny from there.

As you get near to the end of the 3 container, start looking to see if the tranny is overflowing.

If you warm the oil up a little bit that can help also, considering how thick it is.
