Wrong. I'd wait and buy a new & improved NSX or a Z06 or 911. Even then, the FD stays, unless I run out of space...

Swamp RX- I feel you exactly!!!- WIDEBODY- Dont do it with a rebuild, the NSX IS a different league OVERALL and dont play around with rebuild or salvage...sell your RX- save 10k or borrow up to 15k you can have up to a 93.

I am selling mine right now for a 92-94 NSX, they are not as fast as an RX but for sure the body kicks as stock 4 stock AND modified vs. modified. I have driven NSX's in the past month with 90-110k yes 110k and the owners have NO major problems- how many FD's are there at 110k on the same engine....yes they are much faster, but I need to save me an engine rebuild, and not worry about overheating- here in socal, easy 100's coming soon......THe NSX Is much fast enough to beat alot out there, maybe not an FD but then again how many FD's do you see usually.....

I actually saw the guy on the suprasforum looking to trade for an na supra because he is out of $ and insurance is killing him. I would never ever in a million years look to sell my fd but when I thought about trading for an nsx that was a different story. My plan was trade, sell, then start over with an fd but buy one with a single turbo and new engine already done.

Can't you find out the history of the car from www.carfax.com or some site like that?

Totally agree with what you have said, but the NSX is a rich man's car to say the least. Maybe no initially, but modding it is! Other than that, I don't see the problem with an NSX at all. Just for this particular situation, I wouldn't do the trade, but I most certainly would if I had a stock FD and traded it for a stock NSX of the same year. No-brainer! Or at least you could always do a turn around and sell the NSX for more and then take the difference to buy another FD and put some moola into it or just invest it and watch it grow. And then use that money to buy an F50 Modena or what have you. Can you guys tell that I put alot of thought into this? Heheh

personnaly i dont think that a nsx is anything special. a guy down the street used to have one and everytime i passed it i would never consider buying it. sure its a ok looking car but next to a fd it just looks plain. it does not have the curves or the performance of an fd and it has that crazy price attached to it. if you got loads of money and can afford to buy a nsx with out trading your fd for it, go and get it (what the hell are you waiting for???) but if you are a starving marvin and have to go for a salvage/rebuilt nsx you may want to think again. just remember they dont call it salvaged for nothing!

Buying a rebuilt is like buying a new house in the ghetto. It may be affordable, but it will never be quite the same...

I would buy an NSX if it's clean. I didn't realize that you can get an NSX for about $30k or else I probably would have it instead of the FD that I got 2 yrs ago for $17k ('94). At around $35k, I could only get an older one though. I guess my FD is still a good deal. Maybe someday I'll pickup an NSX. I would love to see the new body style said to be coming in a few years.

You can see the new body in car and driver and lots of other mags...I wouldn't exactly call it new...only difference is a slightly different front end and clear headlights. Everything else is the same including taillights. I am no so sure about the engine being the same. I heard some stuff about them going to a twin turbo 6 but that might have just been talk.

i heard that the Acura goes through the rear tires like nothing. The mid- engine does help this problem, think of this every 3k new tires at 1500.00...

I was thinking about getting a NSX as a beater car and keeping the FD as the weekend fun car, heck, you can get NSX's all day for $20-$25k. I didn't because there are already a whole lot of riced out ones here in San Fran, people trading in their Civics and getting them nowadays.. Next year they'll drop even more when the next one debuts..

Those original Yokohama tires that where picked did wear quickly. I think they were only expected to last around 15,000 miles, if that. That's what was causing a lot of accidents with NSX's when they first hit the market.

But given the same tires on any sports car, they'll wear the same, it's just what was choosen to come from the factory for the NSX. Not sure if they are still using the same tires through.

As far the new NSX's, I think the new front looks like ***. IMO, the older ones are MUCH better.

Agreed, I can't believe the switched to the front end that they did. They could have mad it look much more sexy than they did. Thank god the FD (new and old) still looks good!

Did you know this thread's two year's old?

BTW, I wouldn't get a salvaged/rebuilt NSX 'cause the frame is made of aluminum and once you bend it, it's very hard to get it straight.

haha yeah this thread is ancient...well here's a little update. I didn't do the trade. I'm not sure if I'm happy with that decision or not but anyway I still have the 7 and I still love her. I finally decided to do the single turbo. It was a lot of work. Here's the setup.

didn't read all the posts, but to clarify on titles, as it applies to VA at least.

a salvage title is impossible to sell, you cant do it.

a salvage title becomes a rebuilt title once the car is inspected after being fixed.

salvage title occurs when damage is 75% of the car's value (generally speaking, there are exceptions)

a rebuilt title doesn't make the car's value half, i've seen them sell for slightly less than a good title, but more than half. but with all things know what you are getting into, and who fixed it.

i've seen wrecked cars put together basically brand new, as i think turbo jeff (is that the right name) does, but not everyone does that

I think I would trade for a manual NSX any day provided it wasn't a beat down piece of crap.

I think every perfect garage would have an FD in it, but not necessarily an nsx. I like both body styles very much and would love to have both, but if I had to choose between the two I would lose sleep. In all honesty if it was strictly about appearance I would say FD hands down. There are a lot of little things about the FD that I can never get over. And perhaps my favorite is the double bubble roof, and lines of the stock hood, I could litteraly count 100 things I love about the FD's style. The NSX has only three things that draw me to it low profile, long bodied, and side ducts. In my area you'll be standing for years just to see either or.

I used to bring my car up that way during summer of 2003. If thats when you saw it, it was probably mine since there are like 2 on the island haha. I don't know where you are that you are seeing five nsxs a week. I see 5 a year and like 2 or 3 rx7s a year. I don't have any pics on my computer of the exterior but its got the mazdaspeed 15th anni widebody and the knightsport 4 fog bumper with the r1 wing.

i live in holbrook... i just happen to always see nsx's... a few news ones included.. theres a nice new blue one, black one, and orange one i see.... theres a couple old ones, black, and red... i test drove a beat up 92 at a used lot once, they wanted 20 for it, but it had 150,000 on it, and made a weird ticking noise and the idle was surging

the only fd's i ever see are a black one with privat fahren wheels and fmic, and a HOT gunmetal one with what looks like apexi gt spec exhaust... ive seen him by me and huntington

J&R Rotary in Elmont has a gorgeous white one that looks stock but is rediculously fast
and theres always a bunch of broken ones parked around that area by there shop, but thats a good ways away, so im never over there

o yea and of course this rediculously nice black one which i took a guess and thought it was you

do you ever bring your car to the bald hill car show on tuesday nights during the summer??

Eh, my friend has a Red '96 NSX and it's really not all that impressive.

Granted, I wouldn't mind owning one, but I don't think I'd give up my FD, considering the extra expense. They are nice and reliable but not that fast comparatively.
