It blew up on the 7th lap ... coming down the front straight as I started braking for Turn 1...
Top speed was abt 240km/h on the front ...

The Tein Flex looks to be the same as the HA (which has been discontinued), except the Flex comes with metal pillow ball bushings and spring perches that are independently adjustable of spring pre-loading (very nice). They are a little bit cheaper than the JIC FLT-A2s which run 667/500 springs from the factory (although you can specify different spring rates I believe).

the tire delaminated.
tire pressure in the mid 30s would have not been a factor. probably a bad cure on the tire.
it must have been quite a ride and it is fortunate it was on the rear.
your fd is one thousand pounds lighter and would be very happy w 29/27.

Great Pix!
I'm surprised you're getting so much body roll with your setup..
I was getting similar (and lifting the inside wheel 2/3") with standard springs and Bridgestone RE55's, but since changing the coilovers to Bilsteins my body roll is almost completely gone and wheels don't lift any more.

Cossie, what sort of lap times did you, and /or the faster part of the group run(last time I ran with Speedventures, the fast guys were ~1:58XX)? FWIW, I sometimes lift my inside rear(when I'm off line, trying to get back) In my case, it is a function of roll stiffness I believe. I agree with Howard, NO WAY that 27-29 would cause such a failure. I run ~26 cold on my V700s on my MKIV, that gets me ~32@ ~180* tread temps.
Cossie, why don't you drop me a line next time you are going to the Hill, or Sears. 707-696-2705. Carl

Speedventures are out of this world with regards to laptimes and the way they drive...but totally cool if u ask me...hee
I might go this coming friday with NCRC, in the process of moving..so I am undecided...

fong....
great pics....
i agree with the above, you should be running the 14's in the front and the 12's in back.....how did you end up the other way????
those overall rates are totally reasonable for a track fd.....that's what i ran on mine and i was turning about 2:02 @ thill.
don't know the details about the M3's, and they probably know better than i, but lifting the inside front wheel probably indicates to much anti roll rate.

why am i still lurking around here anyways

I ran about 32/30 hot last session but got too much tire flex so I will try 34/32 this time. Some tire flex was good as the car felt less nervous (had bad pillowball bushings in the rear and also bad right toe-link) and more predictable, but limiting my grip.

Boydroll :)
Here is bodyroll on a stock suspension, street tires
My reaction was "OMG" when I first saw it. I remember reading the mags and everyone of them claimed very stuff FD suspension

Actually body roll is good for grip. If you've got an overly stiff car, it will be a bit too snappy at turn in, and unless the tires like a stiff suspension, you won't stick as well, eventhough your car is cornering flatter through the turn (does that make any sense?). My point is you should match the susension to the tires, or the tires to your suspension LOL
