track tire pressure (drag)
track tire pressure (drag)
i did a search but i might have might have missed it
i got home Yokohama AVS tires on my stock rims, 235-50-16 (i think) anyway the recommended max is like 44 psi, i dropped it to like 27 psi at the track,
i talked to vosko and rx_rotary7(i think that his name, its KEITH)they both told me run 11-12 psi, that sounds real low, i couldn't tell if they were messin with me, so let me know
thanks

Do not run your DOT tires at that low of a PSI.
That is slicks pressure.
Not only is it going to give you really poor traction to run your tires at pressure as low as 11-12, but it's DANGEROUS and will give you a really bad wear pattern.

It's my opinion that anything below just a few psi off your normal pressure is going to negatively effect your contact patch (and I know jimlab will tell you that even just a few psi off normal will negatively effect). What happens, is the sidewalls and tread will try to hold thier ~90 degree angle to each other, though the sidewall bending is going to widen that angle. (is this making any sense?)
So what you end up with, is something like this:
(__...---...__) (looking at the tire from the back)
Where the middle portion isn't making good contact with the surface. You can lower your tire pressure to 15-20, do a burnout and check your markings. I bet they aren't as even as if you had 28-35 psi.
