track fd weight and winter mods
weighed the track beast today, came in at:
2741 total (1/4 tank gas) front 49% rear 51% winter plans: - remove abs - remove power steering - carbon fiber rear hatch with lexan glass ill post back as I get each mod completed and weight he part/car again. |
Where are you sourcing the carbon fiber hatch from?

What kind of setup are you going with brake wise? Removing ABS is my next step, and wanted to see what others have done. It would be nice to clean up the engine bay, but I would still like a balanced braking system.

Jimlab, what capacity are those AP cylinders? Have you tested them on your car? Is there any provision for adjusting them from inside the car? I'm assuming they're not power-assisted, what kind of pedal pressure is needed to lock the tires?

Hey Jim, That was a nice toy. Is there a dealer for them anymore? Didn't CW go under? That is ultimately what i want. As of current i have the wilwwod setup with the pre-set 6 positions.Max 57% line reduction. But like you probably won't be happy on what i decide the first time around, and go this route.

I believe that Crooked Willow is still in business, but that Duane is very difficult to get in touch with and that there have been some (ongoing) issues with delivery of product. However, there were only 6 or so dual master cylinder kits made and they were all sold almost immediately.
Mark Valskis is no longer in the FD community (he sold his CYM to Carlos Iglesias, I believe) and I haven't talked to him in years. The blue setup was made by a "bloke" from the UK who is a track fanatic. His name escapes me at the moment, but he is (or was) on the big RX-7 list. I talked to him about his bracket prior to buying Mark's kit and he said it was a one-off and that he had no intention of making any more. I do, however, have the dimensions for Mark's bracket, so I could probably duplicate the setup. |
