TPS Question

Installed the PFC last night and had one peculiar thing. The alarm for the TPS lights when at idle or off gas but goes out a soon as I give some throttle. PFC hasn't been tuned yet, just a basic setting and it is running rich right now with the stock cat. Midpipe to be installed today or tomorrow then off to the dyno. Does this sound like it just needs an adjustment? The car runs fine although it now idles slightly higher than it did before installing the PFC (would not adjust down using the pfc). It also ran fine with the M2 ecu (perfect 700 rpm idle) with the exception of a little fluction in rpms for a couple of minutes upon cold starting which I attributed to a quirk in the AWS. Tom

What you should do is read the closed and open throttle TPS voltages from the PFC and see if they are in range as listed in the Mazda manual.

If you do not have a manual, there are some online.
Or check out my old TPS adjustment which is on Steve Ciriani's and some other sites.

Hey Tom, shoot me a PM. I've had the PFC installed a month now and have been troubleshooting my closed loop issues....

Hey Tom,

I thought Chuck(R.E.) was coming over to your house yesterday to fiddle with you PFC? I can tell that once I get my car back(next week, I hope) with the Power FC installed, I will have a ton of questions...

Do you and Tyler want to start a Bay Area Power FC Tuning NOOB group?? We might be able to help each other get up to speed quicker. Just a thought.

Thanks for all the replys. I will do all of the above. I haven't had any time to mess with it since it was installed. The midpipe is going on this morning so I wanted to wait and not be doing everything twice. Thanks again. Tom

Tyler & John: I'll get back to you both.
