Tools for Rebuild
Tools for Rebuild
Alright, I want to embark on a rebuild, but I want to get the prices together before I get started b/c i'm thinking maybe having someone do the work for me might actually be cheaper... anyway:
-jack: $20
-four engine stands: $30
-engine hoist: $40 (rent)
-one of those 100 piece sets: $60
-air gun: $50
-air tank: $50
-hoses: $10
-sockets: $40
i'm taking complete guesses (i have no idea on price) on these prices, so if i wrote too much or too little, please let me know. also, if i'm missing any parts, that'd be awesome too!

you don't need air tools for the job. they are nice but not 100% necessary. to remove the flywheel you'll need a huge socket and a flywheel stopper too. there are always little unexpected things along the way too. you can also borrow tools from your "nice" friends too. you'll need a load leveler too if you take out the tranny w/ the engine. that's about $40.

Tylenol Headache Medication: $3.39...PRICELESS

Good Luck!
You might want to spend a little extra money on a decent jack. Most cheap jacks will only get the car about 12 inches if that off the ground. Not enough space if you are going to be working under the car.
also, i know i need to buy the video... right? also, do i need to buy the racing beat kit (http://www.racingbeat.com/resultset....rtNumber=30017) or wait until its cracked open?

Well the excentric shaft bolt is a biatch! I've busted two wrenches and a gorilla breaker bar. Oh and the air wrench wimped out and cried, so mine is still not off. You will need a tempered steel breaker $40 bar and socket $7 (sears), flywheel stopper $25 (MTrix), flywheel puller $25 (MTrix), 54mm socket (flywheel nut)$25, .5" to 1" (i think) socket adapter ($?), engine stand adapter $90 (Pineapple, mazdacomp or MTrix), engine stand $75, engine hoist $150, Atkins videos $35x2, low profile jack $150, jack stands $30x2, deep socket if pulling trans' $25, beer, asperin, band aids, roses for your girl friend ...etc.
