With my car up on jack stands, if I grab my rear wheels at the 3 and 9 position, I can wiggle my wheels back and forth a little bit. I also get a clunk sometimes when starting from a dead stop or changing from reverse to a forward motion. My car is a manual. Does this sound like a bad toe link bushing or bearings? The movement is only side to side. If I grab my wheels at the 12 and 6 position and try to move the wheel back and forth that way, there is no movement...Any thoughts....

Get a helper , with the car in the air ,one of you jerk the wheel as you did . The other person under the car to feel ,watch each bushing and joint to see the ones loose and moving. These bushings are high dollar so replace with care . Toe links are $150 each, the bushing on them is not seperate .

Start with toe links. They go bad more often than wheel bearings. They are also a lot easier to replace.

Aftermarket links that use rod ends are available for around $200. They will wear out after a while, but the rod ends are relatively cheap and easy to replace. There was a thread on here by DamonB that explored some ways to keep them from wearing as quickly as they normally do.

Expect to find more loose stuff as you start fixing some of it.

duboisr, the stock toe link bushing are available seperately; I have bought them that way.

Inners are FD01-28-42Y ~$50

Outers are FD01-26-230 ~$47

They are a bear to press though, the old bolt and socket trick didn't work. Had to have a machine shop press them for me.

Even so everyone can see that adds up to more than aftermarket toe links once you add the machine shop charge.
