I am asking here because I need a response asap while the car is up in the air.
Are toe adjustments supposed to be similar on both sides? As in, should there be equal number of threads showing on each link?
To true center my steering wheel my pass. toe is max in and my drivers toe is ~half out. On a perfect car from the factory, should it have this much difference?
I think my fu**ing pinion gear box is busted.
Thanks,
Raj

Instead of adjusting the toe links, which will change your alignment, why didn't you just remove and replace the steering wheel with it centered?
There should be a roughly equal number of threads showing on each tie rod shaft. You want maximum engagement of the threads on each side for safety's sake without inducing toe-in.

That sounds right Jim.
No, the ONLY alignment shop that I could find in Orlando with an in ground pit, was some redneck place. So, I took it to them with my steering wheel completely crooked...and he 'fixed' it with the alignment. So I am removing the OMP, and I notice that my threads on the tie rod shafts are no where near equal.
I now think I will take your advice, and adjust them to be about equal, with out toeing in, and take the wheel off and re adjust it.
I still hear a clunking from my pinion gear though...I believe that is the root evil.
Thanks,
Raj
