Time Goes By...
I noticed that the foliage is alot thiner and that there is a highrise where there once was none. Guess we all got to live somewhere!
Nice story, my good friend has a similar story maybe he will share. At his fathers marriage was a first gen, a blue one too it was his first car after marriage. Now he owns a 3rd gen as does his son !

I love that story! Nice to share the personal side of the rotary. . .
We married in 1976; bought my wife an RX7 GSL in 1982 (yes we were poor and I've never gone into so much debt I couldn't afford -- but never regretted a moment); 1988, sold '82 RX7 and bought wife '88 RX7 GXL; 1993, sold GXL and bought wife '93 RX7 touring; 2005, bought the wife 2005 RX8 -- told her the 1993 RX7 was MINE!!!!
2006, we still love each other and still love the RX breed
lol, sappy, but I feel good sharing!

Good story. Makes me think back to 1993 when I was in the dealer in Huntington on Rt 25 pricing a VR 93 R1 for $25k. I think the car might have had some hail damage which was around back in those days. I had graduated college the year before and couldn't justify the payments and insurance on a recent college grads salary.
Took me 10 years to finally get to a position in life where I had a condo, money in the bank and an established career to finally buy my VR R1. Sometimes I wonder if my practicality worked against me in this particular instance. After all the crap I've been through with my FD I doubt it will ever be sold.
Oh and for you Jersey guys - you are freaking lucky now with Ihor (Rotary Experiment Seven) being around. He does some good work and he's pretty close in Clifton.

^^ Reminiscing. lol I bought my '93 in that same "hail damage sale." I think something like 100 cars got hit in Florida. Some, like mine, you couldn't even tell, yet Mazda had been paid off in bulk by the insurance company and was marking them down over $10,000 from sticker! BTW, talked to wife and we will find pictures of all the RX7's and post!
nice, imagine if you coulda kept the blue rx7. Then you only would of need a second gen =)
Hope to see you this year at the NYRA meets =)

Nice to be reminded that I'm not the only guy on the board with gray hair.
Hopefully BillM won't mind.....
Bought my first RX7 in 1981 shortly after getting out of college and starting a career. God I loved that car. An 'S' model that I ended up adding every available option onto while I owned it. Like some of you, I shouldn't have bought it. But I'd driven every known POS car up to that time that would get me back and forth from campus. And I was tired of always parking on a hill. Also BillM and some of the other guys might remember this was the early 80's. IIRC my new car loan was ~17%, even with a good down payment (they weren't interested in my trade-in). And at least here in small-town midwest, you were considered more than a little radical for buying a car with one of those "wierd" motors.
Anyway, sold the FB in 84 to buy my first house. Got married in 88, kids, bought another bigger house. FD came in January 03 thanks to my wife, who always knew how much I wanted one. Just a dumb goverment employee, but I've always held title to this RX7 and managed to keep it so far, even in the face of kid's college tuition.
