Okay,

I have a coolant leak.

One rotor on cold starts...
Air terminally trapped in coolant...
Adding water twice daily...

It's academic, I need a rebuild.

I knew I would do this soon, but I wanted things like:
New housings
1999-2001 turbos
Reliability mods like better oiling, cooling, possibly better seals, lapping, or whatever.

However, it seems that I will need to get a shortblock and go with that.

This means that i'll have everything out, off and ready for rebuilding or repairing.
Turbos too.

What (Aside from new housings) might i consider getting in my block to enhance its performance so that i dont have to buy ANOTHER whole block to continue the hardening and power enhancing process of my 1995 black FD.

(That is otherwise in pristine shape)

i'm looking at purchasing an entire drivetrain and just swapping?
What are the problems/benefits of a JDM drivetrain being used to replace my stock setup? Should I rebuild THAT? can i just put it in and expect good results? Whats backwards? anything?

For just using a JDM shortblock, you'll be fine. I just installed a JDM shortblock not too long ago. Keep in mind that you will be getting a USED block. Check my comments here:

The JDM transmissions have a shorter 5th gear. It will mean a little lower top speed but better acceleration.
