Throw out bearing not snapping into clutch cover?!?!?!

well i got the tranny bolted up and snapped it in, it seemed to snap in pretty good at first, then i had some one press on the clutch pedal as i looked in through the service hole, The ring on the clutch seems to be pulled out about a quarter of an inch and throw out bearing is the same distance form the clutch cover.... THe pedal also doesn't engage until about halfway down, what to you think the problem is, the snap ring on the clutch cover maybe?

I've heard something about other people having problems with the snap ring on the clutch cover, but never had that problem myself. You have a ACT clutch right? Unfortunately I think that person ended up taking everything apart and doing something to the snap ring. But I hope you don't have to do that. Sorry I don't have more info.

I've removed and replaced a FD transmission 2 times(replaced 2 clutches) and I wouldn't wish it on anyone... Yes my experiance with it was that bad...

i really dont want to have to pull it again arghhhhh..... o well, i saw a picture floating around with what it looks like correctly installed, and mine looks like that, but in my mind it still doesn't look right. Maybe i just have to bleed the system somemore... how much bleeding can i do though, i tried for about 30 minutes yesterday!?!?!

You shouldn't have to bleed the slave cylinder for 30 minutes I don't think. When I put mine together(used a STAR Spec clutch/OEM mazda flywheel) I pulled back on the lever through the service hole it "clicked". It's a very soft click IMO so you often wonder if that was the click you heard, hell knows I did a couple times and pulled back on the lever through the service hole just to make sure it was snapped in. Then without even bleeding the slave, I felt the clutch pedal and even started it up and if felt fine. But I bled the slave cylinder to make sure there was no air in it just to be safe.

I'm not sure if you remember but I was having alot of problems with my clutch not begin able to put it in gear and I finally got mine working!

I pulled the tranny back off and loosened all the bolt on the pressure plate. Realigned the clutch and retourqed everything down. This time when I slid the tranny into the motor it went in fine by itself. I didn't need to force it or anything. So I had a misaligned clutch the first time... yet when I took the tranny off the 2nd time it came right off which leads me to beleive it alinged iself when I pressed the pedal the frist time.

The one other thing I did that acutally made the difference was replace the clutch line from the master to the slave.

NOW.... I did bleed my system several times over before doing this stuff and when I looked in my service hole and the pedal was NOT engaged the little crown that goes into the splines was all the way INTO the pressure plate. Then when someone pressed on the pedal it would pull the crown out and at it's max it would pull the splines back a little.

When I looked under a friends FD.... when his clutch was NOT engaged his crown was out all the way. Hmmm....

We replaced the line w/ a SS clutch line and reblead the system. Guess what.... now mine looked like his. We put everything back together and I am now happly drive my FD on the road again! (well... sorta... got a boost issue now lol)

Good luck man!

Oh, is you are using a act pressure plate you might be having the same problem as i did. I test fitted the act ring off the car and i can litterally pull it off by hand. Good thing i accidentally bought the stock ring, I popped that one in and it was all good. Maybe its just a fluke but my act ring didnt work.
