throttle body sticking

Here's the deal, I was reataching the throttle cable so I turned the throttle link. When I let it go, it was sticking open. I pushed it a bit and it closed, but now its all notchy and sticks a bit in places. is it possible to over-extend the throttle link and like break of through off a spring or something like that, or are their stops in place to limit the range? It sounds like its sticking on the firewall side of the TB, but it's hard to tell, and I havent taken it off yet ( its 12:30 AM so im done for the day). Any ideas?

Cheers,
Dale

Take a night's rest, come back and make sure nothing in the moving assembly is scored from taking it apart and putting it back together. also, try replacing the return spring and make sure the throttle cable isn't pulling it too far. open is open, any more tension could be an issue... i think...
