The thermoswitch is the thermal switch that turns the fans on. There is a thread about using an FC (2nd gen) switch in the FD (3rd gen) to lower the temperature when the fans turn on in the stickies.

The stock thermostat is the best one. It opens around 180F. Contact Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda (888-533-3400) for great prices and service if you need a new one (or any other OE RX-7 parts).

Its the miata thermoswitch that most people use. ITs a pretty straight forward mod but you need to change or modify the connector.

The FC switch does exactly the same thing, but the connector is the right one!

Credit Dale Clark for this one!

Same here, but about two month after I changed mine. Still, it's a VERY worthwhile mod.
