thermostat replacement??

should I bother to replace the staock thermostat.??

I don't want it failing on me, ... so should I replace it with a stock one or an aftermarket one,..

what kind of brands are out there you guys recommend??

Did the temp. guage ever go beyond middle? If not then you should be fine. You might have to replace it if the car runs hot, for example, the fans come on after you turn the engine off.

if you're having overheating problems then replace it. if you're changing your radiator or hoses then also do it since your're already overhauling the system. the thermostat is cheap...less than $20. better safe than sorry.

whats the difference between an OEM thermostat and one from your local auto parts store. should i not get one where i work(autozone).

After I replaced mine with a OEM one, the car runs so much cooler, almost too cold. It used to be a bit hot but it wasn't too hot by rotary standards.

I highly recommend it. If it feels like your radiator is not able keep the temp down when you are sitting in traffic, get the thermostat replaced. If it still is too hot, change the coolant mixture with more water.

OEM is best I heard. I suppose the generic ones will be okay but may not last as long or seal as well.
