WHERE CAN I PURCHASE A NEW 170-DEG THERMOSTAT FOR A 13B-REW, "PETTIT" NO LONGER SELLS THEM.

I thought the 180 is the lowest temp for opening. I've heard it opens too early and it prevents the car from proper warm up.

Stock T-stat starts opening at 177F, typically cycles around 180F and fully extended by 200F or so. GET ONE FROM MAZDA! It's one part that works better stock than aftermarket. If your engine is running at 170F all the time, you will run very rich and the double throttle will stay closed and so on.

The factory part is a 180 degree thermostat. By forum members consensus, it is the best. 1 for Mazda.

I know the japanese racers are all using the Billion thermostat. That keeps the water temps around 68 degrees celcius. Dunno where to get my hands on one though...
