i know the 3" pipe feeding the 4" inlet of the turbo isn't exactly hot ****, but it's only at 8psi and it runs on 87 octane...i'll let it slide until i get ambitious enough to build a custom box.

and before it's even mentioned...no, i'm not using that filter. i have a k&n drop-in, but why bother opening it up just for the test-fit?

Interesting, pretty good idea. I suppose it is a benefit to running that hideous hood .

Why run it on 87 octane? First I've heard of an FD not on 93.....

neat idea...best use of that hood that I've seen, but it's an eye sore under it, and doesn't look extremely efficient. Looks like only the back half of the filter is seeing fresh air.

when you make the custom box...I'd use a 4" K&N round filter and have that opening in the hood fill the box that it's in with fresh air.

high octane fuel isn't required if you have low air temps and low boost levels - stock FC TurboII's run fine on 87, for example.

Good work on the airbox actually, its too bad the MAZDA symbol on the airbox wouldn't work heh.

Looks interesting, I'd like to hear how it affects intake air temps. Are you planning to use foam to seal it, like the M2 intake box?

Clever set-up....

Rich, I run 92... SO that makes twice you've heard of someone not running 93! lol We don't got 93 here in WA, at least near my area.

i already said that filter isn't going to get used. that's been in that box for years. and efficient? it doesn't get much more eficient than this. send cold compressed air into the turbo and it won't have to work as hard. intake temps should be near-ambient most of the time.

na, when i get the top built, it'll be close to flush with the hood, then i'll grab some universal weather stripping from autobone and get it more or less air tight against the hood.

Why run it on 87 octane?...
2 reasons.
1) $.20 cheaper per gallon
2) everyone whines and says it can't be done. well i'm doing it, so there

I was talking about the entire set-up under the hood, haha! but whatever you hate me already.

so what's compressing the air before the turbo?? the 3" pipe into the 4" inlet??

efficient in the sense it looked like only half of the filter is exposed to the opening...

don't worry you don't have to respond to me I'm done posting in your threads.

i don't hate you at all--you just talk out of your *** a lot and are wrong too much of the time for me to take you seriously.

things like it looks like only half the filter is exposed.... dood, it's the camera angle. if you can't figure that out, just don't comment on it.

or your leading coils firing 42,000 times a minute at 7k rpm.

radiator hoses i got at the local performance shop. the hose ends got crusty real quick, so i swapped them out with the HTS couplers. about a year on them and they're still fine. the downside is they're really hard to clean in between the creases unless you take them off.

the good side is they're the last set of radiator hoses i'll have to buy....ever.
