Are there any negatives with venting the stock BOV to the atmosphere?

anyway, yeah i had it vented to the atmosphere for a few weeks. i didnt get any oil residue, but i got so sick of the sound i had to cap it off. id pick up my friends and they would continually keep asking what was broken on my car... basically i found it fun for a day or 2. youll get over it really fast. as a result, ive got a greddy type S on my 20b (still havent gotten around to getting it in the car)... but im routing a hose back to one of the intake filters to quiet it down. just leave it be... thats my 2 cents

Not if it's connected back into the intake system on the low pressure side of the turbo, but after the MAF sensor. The MKIV Supra is configured this way.

You shouldn't be hearing the BOV while cruising. But level with me... is your dislike of the BOV noise just because of the rash of squeaky/sneezy BOVs that flooded the market about the same time as the release of the Fast and the Furious and you don't want to be lumped in with the ricers?

Good point. At the point at which my valves were vented to outside air, both were serving duty as BOVs because I was non-sequential, so I never heard them unless I was making boost.

I was just thinking that vented BOVs remind me of making a fart noise with your hand in your armpit. We all did it for a couple of hours one day as kids, but at some point you realize that doing it in public doesn't impress people.
