Is there by any chance this MOMO steering is from a FD?

I was offered a deal by someone saying that the attached picture steering is a original momo steering from a FD. As I remembered most of the OEM steering I've seen in a FD is usually made by Nardi. So is there by any chance that it is from a FD? Price offered was interesting though.

That looks like the OEM MOMO to me. They came on Pre-99 RZs.

It was the 99-02 models that came with Nardi wheels.

The OEM MOMO wheels pop up for sale from time to time in the classifieds, and tend to go for between $100-200 depending on condition.

Yes it is an OEM wheel. Came on Certain FDs Between 96-98.

I'm not too sure, Gordon. I only know the very basics about second gens, and I don't know anything about Japanese second gens other than the fact that they were all turbo.

Thinking about getting this wheel... wonder how easy it would be to install.

It's an OEM wheel so it's pretty straight forward. This has been how-to'd in the past. If it's a non-airbag wheel you have to deal with that so you don't have blinking lights/beeping.

Also I think there is a Miata steering wheel that looks very similar that will also work. Again, search around on it.

I agree that the S6 wheel’s styling didn’t age well. But option #2 would be to get an airbag equipped wheel from a S7 or S8. IMO they look WAY better, are also pretty much R & R, slightly smaller and you keep what little crash-worthiness the FD had.

A member here has a running ad selling them in the market section and I’ll vouch for his wheels.

I actually like the look of the stock S6 wheel (and the leather on it is quality), but it is a bit too big and it is heavy, both of which impact the driving feel. I'm going for something that looks subtly modified, which IMO this MOMO (and the vintage Mazdaspeed, which is my #1 choice) both have. The airbag Nardi is a great choice as well, but I'm going for something a bit more aftermarket looking.

FYI HKB make excellent hubs, they also have ones with cruise control buttons - they will work with Momo/Nardi aftermarket wheels.

The weight came from the airbag charge, you can remove the charge on the S6 wheel and it will be a lot lighter. I agree if you want more of an aftermarket look then the MS wheel is an excellent choice.
