I know you put 12V to the compressor wire but how do you get to it since its stuffed up behind and below the alternator. Also is there a way to test the low pressure switch.

 

the quickest way to test the low pressure switch would be to jump the pins in the connector, closing the circuit.

 

At what point does the low pressure switch activate (ie. how many ounces). I jumped the low pressure switch and the compressor does activate.

 

I don't recall pressure, but it is in the FSM Body Electrical Volume.

I would beware of operating the A/C for extended periods of time with the low pressure cutout jumpered. These switches rarely go bad and they do protect the compressor. Refrigerant is used to cool the compressor and low refrigerant will not do that properly; additionally, it will not adequately circulate lubricant in the system.

If in doubt about the LP switch, put a test manifold on it (gauges) and check the pressures.

 

Just wanted to make sure the compressor before I go to Mexico tomorrow for R-12. It's way cheaper than here about $12 a bottle.
