Smile tachometer & turn signal problem solved...

Just a FYI: I did a fan mod (pulled wires from the grounding points on relays 2 and 3, allowing low and medium speed control) and the tachometer and hazzard/turn lights were not working. Went after it today with the manual troubleshooting section and a test meter. Was geting battery voltage to the hazard fuse, and the fuse was fine, but the voltage to the turn signal controller (right next to the dead pedal, a pink with black stripe wire) was nowhere to be found. I traced the circuit diagram in the electrical section, found a connector X-07 that lives somewhare in the pass side that I needed to test next. After MUCH searching, I found it... right behind the heater blower motor. Talk about STUPID ENGINEERING!!! I barely got my hand behind there, and sure enough, the connector was flopping around, loose. So I squeezed them together, and..

Now I have turn signals and a tachometer. I'd pulled the connector loose ('cause it won't click closed!!) when yanking on the harness pass through grommet. Just thought I'd mention this in case it helps anyone else, ever. Probably just archive it immediately (as if I'm WORTHY!! HAH!!).

I also tried pulling the glove box, 'cause I couldn't find the connector at first and thought it was up in front of the heater. The person who designed the covers that go over the screws that attach the glove box and are held by barbed push clips should REALLY BE KILLED messily. OMFG, what a war. And all for nothing. Grrrrr....

Connector is white, and lives behind the heater/air conditiooning complex. It is up and behind. You basically contort the hell out of yourself to crawl into the pass side footwell, snake your arm up behind the heater, and there will be a white connector sitting such that the wires are horizontal. I found that mine had undone itself when I was messing with the ECU harness. It is supposed to ba a locking type connector, wherein you have to press on a piece of the connector to get it to release, but mine won't lock into place. I have a pretty early car, so maybe that's the problem. Does this help?

I believe that this is a great information and would have to be in 3gen files, so that it helps to others

Nope. Tach was completely dead, and turn signals and hazard light switch non functional. Got plug X-07 back together again, and all was well. Hey, how 'bout that? An easy FD fix....

I got a dead tach and speedo problem.. want to help me fix that. They only cut off sometimes... like a 1st gear pull when the car is jolted back, they will shut off until the car is turned off then turned back on. I still get speed reading from my Turbo Timer and I get Tac reading from my Power FC(no speed read out though). Weird huh?
