Tacho problem

Hi
I just finished installing a series 7 motor into my series 6 ( did the whole loom change etc ) . Fired her up and she runs all good. Just one problem I have encountered is my Tacho.

When I put the key in and turn on the ignition ( not start the motor ) my tacho needle automatically goes to 700rpm and just sits there. I start her up and the tacho works fine in idle but when I give it some gas the needle only goes up to 3000rpm and wont go past ( even though the engine is reving past 3krpm) .

Any ideas what could be happening? I was thinking maybe I need to reset the ECU ??

Your tach is broken/aged. Could be broken soldering grounds or dead capacitors. Theres a how to fix your tach somewhere on this forum.
