symptoms of a dying car?
the car smokes 20 seconds of light blue smoke on cold start (barely visible, I know that fd's have oil injectors for cold startup so they smoke alittle anyway), here is the thing that puzzles me-got on highway today with a firebird on my tail so I took off and grey smoke billowed out for a sec, pulled over and car was not smoking anymore, then I went for a drive and had a freind ride behind me to see if he couuld see smoke coming out while I was under boost (I fiigured my turbos were blowing oil), after stepping on it a number of times with my friends riding behind we would see alittle smoke(barely visible, probably from running rich) at around 7K but nothing that looked out of the ordinary. opened up my hood and smelled coolant but not out the exhaust. I have plenty of coolant, the coolant light has yet to come on since I have owned the car. the only thing I can think of that was different about my driving when the smoke billowed out under hard acceleration was that I was almost out of gas when I stepped on it (granted I know that it probably has nothing to do with the smoke billow but that is all I can think that was different) the car drives great, doesnt smoke heavily on startup or under boost, but it did when I stepped on it today and I have not been able to repeat on purpose what happened earlier. any guesses?-you guys are the best, -BB
It could be just running rich or just a fluke or something like that. Check compression if your worried about it. The smoke on start up is fine and it sounds like your engine is fine. As for the coolant, do you have a metal ast take? Check your hoses as well as waterpump/thermostat gaskets.
Good luck

the top of the radiator is know to crack and it will start small and you will smell collant but not see any. then one day youll go out to your car and there will be a puddle either from the ast or the rad top tank cracked.
sanfordman, do you have an aftermarket intercooler with the input and output at the top of the intercooler? If so oil can collect in the intercooler over a period of time, then under boost, pass some of the oil through the intake in one big "chug". This causes a cloud of smoke from the exhaust, then all is well again. Can't be repeated until oil level comes up in the intercooler again to the previous level.
For the coolant, try pressure testing it.

Mine did it much less and really wasn't noticeable with the stock IC. It's smaller, so less oil accumulates before being passed through. If this is your problem, it's no big deal, just a bit irritating.
