Swap AST out without coolaant loss/burping?

Probably a lazy-***, but I want to know if the stock AST can be swapped for the Pettit with little or no coolant loss? With engine cold, can each of the 3 hoses be plugged with a bolt or something as it is removed to prevent leakage, or do a quick attach to Pettit. How much coolant do you lose when doing the mod? I just had a flush/fill/burp a month ago and am too lazy to hit up Autozone for a gallon of coolant.

I'm lazy, too, Toadman. I am not going to promise you zero loss of coolant and abolutlely no burping, but you can come pretty close. I did the swap about a year ago. The only thing I did in addition to your idea of plugging the lines quickly before they peed everywhere was to remove as much of the coolant from the AST and from the aluminum neck above it in the system with a kitchen baster/sucker. Then, with some quick fumbling, as I removed the final lower line from the AST, I avoided almost all of the coolant loss. I topped everything off after installing the AST. No burping was required.
